I'll overwhelm 'credible fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be streamed in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the two fighters confronted each other to publicize the upcoming bout.

Ex two time world heavyweight champion Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Boxer's Mentality

"I plan to injure his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," the British boxer, 35, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I'm going to really want to cause him pain. That's my goal."

Civil Exchange

Despite those words, a relaxed Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically recognized for his showmanship - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul rather attacked ex Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and called him "a joke" after Ngannou declined a bout proposal.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, at the same time, took aim at UK opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"[Paul] is superior to Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Fighter

Despite saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua declined to talk badly about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he said.

Paul's Background

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mostly fought mixed martial artists or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in last year.

Financial Attraction

Nevertheless, the novice remains one of the sport's biggest financial successes, regularly earning huge financial rewards.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28 year old anticipated a stoppage in rounds four or five and asserted he would derail the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is allegedly under discussion for 2026.

"It's going to be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul said.

Physical Difference

As both boxers participated in the traditional confrontation, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it emphasized just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is truly proceeding.
